Preparing for
Carpet Installation
You will adore how your new carpet looks and feels in your home, and you can take many valuable considerations to ensure that your installation process is as seamless as possible. When you are prepared before, during, and after your new carpet installation, you will experience minimal displacement in the home and enjoy fantastic, finished results.
Take the following considerations before your carpet installation day to make sure you on schedule:
- Remove all furniture, items, electronics, and wall hangings from the rooms and closets receiving new carpet.
- Remove the doors as you may need to shave them down if the new carpet height restricts full range of swinging motion.
- Since carpet cannot be installed over an existing flooring type, the current floors will need to be removed and disposed of beforehand.
- Complete all painting and touch-ups in the rooms and closets before installation.
- Carpet requires a completely smooth subfloor for installation. Once your subfloor is professionally assessed and all needed repairs are made, you are ready for installation!
When your carpet installation day arrives, make sure that you are home to:
- Answer questions for your carpet installation crew.
- Designate an area for your crew to keep installation tools, store carpet rolls, and cut carpet safely as needed.
- Keep kids and pets away from the installation and worker’s area.
After your new carpet installation is complete, it’s important to:
- Wait the specified time before walking on new carpet & returning items.
- Establish the recommended ventilation to offset new carpet smells.
- Use felt protectors under heavy furniture to reduce crushing.
- Vacuum your new carpet with a suitable model to remove shedding.
