Preparing for Tile
Flooring Installation

New tile flooring can transform your space, but proper preparation is key to a smooth, successful installation. Here’s what to know before, during, and after your installation day.

Before Installation

To keep your project on schedule, be sure to:

Remove all furniture, rugs, electronics, and wall décor from the rooms receiving new flooring.

Detach any doors that may need trimming to clear the new floor height.

Remove existing flooring, as tile cannot be installed over most surfaces.

Complete any painting or wall touch-ups ahead of time.

Ensure your subfloor is clean, smooth, and properly prepped for installation.

Bring your new tile into the space at least 48 hours before install to allow it to acclimate to the room’s temperature and humidity.

Installation Day Tips

When your installers arrive:

Be available to answer any questions or give access as needed.

Set aside a space for installers to stage materials and safely cut planks.

Keep pets and children away from the work area for safety.

After Installation

Once your new floors are in place:

Avoid walking on them or replacing furniture until the recommended time has passed.

Use felt pads under furniture to prevent scuffs or dents.

Lift furniture when moving—never drag it.

Keep the space ventilated to minimize adhesive smells, if applicable.
